Quantum Corps

Masters of particle manipulation who could purify water with a touch and cleanse the air with a gesture. They diverted three cyclones away from Mumbai, and for twenty years that was the sentence everybody knew about them.

Scientific analysis released during the Disclosures revealed that the diversions had created the drought patterns — worsening them in the regions least able to absorb it. The museum simulation shows the cascade plainly: the southeastern states turn blood-red with drought indicators while the coastal regions glow a deceptive, reassuring blue.

A cyclone that does not arrive is easy to photograph. The rain that never falls four states away is not.
