Salt gives a lamp its lattice. Hysterons give it its memory.

They are memory materials — Nitinol, or other Shape Memory Materials — blended into the salt itself. Halite can store vibrational patterns; combined with hysterons it holds sound, heat, even trace electromagnetic signatures. Under the right compression and lattice integrity, it can remember.

Not magic salt. Magic in a very real, very engineered way.

The lamps are precision-carved crystalline lattices, and the engineering came from Myaknju, the tech sage of the early Resistance, who combined acoustic resonance with nanoscale tuning. That distinction matters more than it looks. In this India the state had already replaced science teaching with a curriculum of astrology, myth and revisionism and called it heritage. The lamps are the opposite move: not a claim that the ancients had it all along, but measurement, materials science and a great deal of failed prototyping.
