Twenty years of research on climate adaptation, and the technology still fascinates him — he adjusts the collar of his cooling suit and laughs about Delhi to Kolkata in six hours.

He once worked on the Yamuna Action Plan. His work now is waste-to-energy: pilot models to review for emissions integrity, new designs to implement, efficiency reports. His enthusiasm for environmental solutions is lifelong and, to a fourteen-year-old who has heard promises all her life, not obviously warranted.

Being a scientist in a state that has rewritten its own curriculum eventually makes you a whistleblower whether or not you set out to be one.

He steps off at Serenity Junction to hand papers to a colleague. The train stops for two minutes.

He and Meera fought to expose it. They failed. But they left codes behind.

कभी-कभी हमें समस्या हल करने को नहीं मिलती। कभी-कभी हमें बस उसके पास रहना होता है, और फिर भी कोशिश करते रहना होता है।

Sometimes we don't get to solve the problem. Sometimes we just have to live next to it and keep trying anyway.
