Sumati stands on a rooftop above a drowned Delhi at dusk, a staff slung across her back, ruined towers fading into the haze.

The Very Last Superhero

No one flies. But someone stays.

About the book

Heroism, after the heroes

The Very Last Superhero is set in a near-future India where climate collapse, authoritarian control, and digital decay have stripped the world of its myths — and its memory. Fourteen-year-old Sumati inherits a Salt Lamp from her missing father: not a relic, but a device that stores oral histories.

In a Delhi buried beneath surveillance and floodwater, she sets out to reboot the Resistance archive and uncover what came before the Collapse. In this world, heroism is not superpowers or spectacle. It is memory, care, and the courage to hold a community together when everything else has fallen apart.

Character · Librarian | also Rishi, also Axl

Kishore Mehta

A librarian of more than thirty years who keeps the Treasure Room and gathers explanations for mysterious phenomena. Also the eleven-year-old who broke P.A.I.
